DON’T HAVE NIGHTTIME PLANS. BUT IF YOU ARE, THE SUNSET TIME WILL BE -- I AM SUGGESTING YOU STEP OUTSIDE FOR A FEW MINUTES TONIGHT, ESPECIALLY AROUND 930 -- AROUND 9:30, THAT IS WHEN OUR PEAK FULL MOON WILL HAPPEN. IT IS A SUPERMOON AND THE STURGEON MOON, THE LAST SUPERMOON OF THE 2022 CALENDAR YEAR. IT WILL BE 14 TIMES LARGER AND 30 TIMES BRIGHTER. THE PERSEID METEOR SHOWER, ANY TIME ONCE IT GETS DARK BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND BEFORE DAWN, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE THAT. AS FAR AS YOUR AFTERNOON FORECAST GOES, I MENTIONED A STRAY SHOWER WITH A WEAK FRONT PUSHING THROUGH I THINK THIS MODEL IS BEING ROBUST. I THINK WE WILL BE DRY. TONIGHT, 70 AT 8:00. WE DIPPED DOWN INTO THE MIDDLE 50’S. IT WILL BE COOL AS YOU STEP OUT THE DOOR. FRIDAY, GIVE IT A TWO THUMBS UP. IT’S REALLY WONDERFUL. 79 WILL BE OUR AFTERNOON HI. NICE AND COMFORTABLE. 56 WILL BE OUR NIGHTTIME LOW. SUPERMOON AND PERSEID METEOR SHOWER ALL IN ONE NIGHT. AS FAR AS THE REST OF THE STANDARD FORECAST, THIS WEEKEND WILL HOVER AROUND THE MID TO HIGH 70’S. A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY CHANCE TO SEE SOME RAIN. I THINK IT WILL HOLD OFF FOR THE MOST PART. A WEEK OF AUGUST,

Sturgeon Supermoon: It's the last supermoon of 2022. It will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter. Sturgeon moons get their name from the readily available sturgeon in the Great Lakes region this time of year. Peaks at 9:36 p.m., and viewing conditions look good!Perseid Meteor Shower: Typically, could see ~100 meteors/hour without moonlight, but because of the full moon AND it being a supermoon, the meteors may not be as apparent in the night sky, but it's still worth it to take a look. For viewing, you want to look north/northeast in the sky. Peaks Thursday and Friday. Now, the weather. A cold front with a line of fairly weak showers was making its way across the area Thursday. Showers will be brief in any particular location, but we should be dry for the Billy Joel concert at PNC Park at 8 p.m.Skies will clear Thursday evening behind the front. Cool, comfortable air will move in Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, giving us a nice, pleasant stretch of weather. We will have a few more clouds on Sunday and the chance for an isolated shower.Check out the full forecast in the video player above.Learn how to enable automatic weather alerts on the WTAE mobile appDownload the WTAE app to stay connected with severe weather alerts and breaking news.Already have the WTAE mobile app?
