TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Office is preparing to vaccinate children between the ages of 6 and 11, or elementary students. The Health Office's director for disease prevention and control, Dwi Oktavia, said they are planning to make schools the centers for inoculating children.

"Schools are potential places to provide vaccination services for children aged 6 to 11," Dwi said in a seminar on child vaccination in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 30.

According to the Health Office, schools in Jakarta have established good cooperation with community health centers or Puskesmas through the Students Immunization Month (BIAS).

"We urge parents not to hesitate getting their children vaccinated at school, because the service is as good as in health facilities," he said.

The Jakarta Health Office is now waiting for technical guidance from the Health Ministry. The Office estimated that the vaccination target in this age group reaches 900,000 children.
