Indonesian Govt Prepares Omicron Prevention Protocol
The Indonesian government imposed numerous restrictions as part of the protocol for preventing the COVID-19 variant B.1.1.529 or Omicron. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan prohibited state officials from traveling abroad, which applies to all levels of office, except for those carrying out important state duties.
Luhut also appealed to the general public to postpone traveling abroad. "It is still an appeal for the public," Luhut said on Thursday. The government has also extended the quarantine period for international travelers from seven days to ten days. People arriving from South Africa, Botswana, Hong Kong, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho must quarantine for 14 days.
